Tomasita’s Albuquerque is a homecoming. Our roots are at the corner of Atrisco Boulevard and Central Avenue. It was here from the 1940s to the 1970s that my grandmother, Sophia, operated the Central Cafe. My mother, Georgia, and her siblings grew up working at the Central Cafe in the Atrisco barrio. There they developed a love of chile while learning how to run a great restaurant. At Tomasita’s we are proud to serve food from the tradition of the Spanish families of New Mexico – from the Atrisco barrio to the rural villages of Northern New Mexico– simple recipes using the chile, corn, beans and other ingredients that have been grown along the Rio Grande for centuries. With the opening of Tomasita’s Albuquerque, we feel like we are coming home. We hope that Tomasita’s Albuquerque will be like home to you as well.
